Glasgow Street Pastors & Glasgow Presbytery Serving at COP 26

August 27, 2021

During COP 26 Glasgow City Centre will be busy with guests from across the world attending the conference. Glasgow Street Pastors has been ‘listening, caring and helping’ on the streets of Glasgow for the past 12 years assisting individuals who become vulnerable or require assistance for a variety of reasons. The work is done by committed Christians, minimum age 18, from a wide range of church backgrounds, united in a desire to demonstrate the love and compassion of God in very practical acts of service.

Volunteers from churches in the Glasgow Presbytery are invited to join with Street Pastors to provide an additional caring presence on the city streets. Working with experienced Street Pastor’s, you will have the opportunity to be involved in a two-hour afternoon patrol (1-3pm) or three-hour evening patrol. (8-11pm)

An application form can be obtained from coordinator@gsp.scot. Your minister or church leader will be contacted for a brief comment in support of your application. A training day has been arranged on Saturday 2 October at Sandyford Henderson Memorial Church from 10:00-15:00. Attendance is essential.

Crossover Calling!

August 17, 2021

Crossover is our church youth group for young people from P7 to S3/4. During lockdown and the following restrictions, Crossover met fortnightly throughout, both online and outdoors.

Our vision for this year is to continue to meet fortnightly during term-time, including launching a monthly drop-in youth cafe.  Crossover reaches a number of young people in the village and beyond who do not have other church connections, with the good news of Jesus.

To run on this basis, we need you to join us in this exciting and rewarding ministry.  There are a number of roles you might fill including catering, setting up, driving, front of house, admin, running activities, IT etc etc etc  All ages welcome, and no experience necessary.  We will be operating on a rota basis, and would be looking for a minimum commitment of only 5 sessions a year.

If you are interested, or have any questions, please contact me.  Iain Nisbet  office@tpc.org.uk or leave a message on 01360 620970 and I will get back to you.

Café Re-opening, Thursday 12th August 2021

August 10, 2021

The Church Café will re-open for the new session on Thursday 12th August 2021, so please come and enjoy your coffee/tea, cakes and scones once more ……. ‘All will be welcome.’

We are fortunate to have a wonderful group of Servers and Bakers who have worked, when allowed, throughout the pandemic and this has very much been appreciated by the customers and their friends.  Like all groups, however, things can change and this is happening to the Café where we have lost, for various reasons, some of our longstanding volunteers.  The most notable one being Jen, she will be sorely missed but the group is determined that the Café will continue.

It would be great therefore if we could recruit a few new members to the team, particularly servers.  This would help ensure the future of the Café and maintain a very valued social amenity in the Village.

If you are interested in joining the Café group you will be warmly welcomed, so please could you contact – Irene Mackenzie, Catherine MacKinnon, Liz Capie, Rosie Mott or myself, Jean Escott:  01360 620970: office@tpc.org.uk

Thank you, Jean (Escott)
