TPC Café Re-opening

July 23, 2021

The Church Café will re-open for the new session on Thursday 12th August 2021, so please come and enjoy your coffee/tea, cakes and scones once more ……. ‘All will be welcome.’

We are fortunate to have a wonderful group of Servers and Bakers who have worked, when allowed, throughout the pandemic and this has very much been appreciated by the customers and their friends.  Like all groups, however, things can change and this is happening to the Café where we have lost, for various reasons, some of our longstanding volunteers.  The most notable one being Jen, she will be sorely missed but the group is determined that the Café will continue.

It would be great therefore if we could recruit a few new members to the team, particularly servers.  This would help ensure the future of the Café and maintain a very valued social amenity in the Village.

If you are interested in joining the Café group you will be warmly welcomed, so please could you contact – Irene Mackenzie, Catherine MacKinnon, Liz Capie, Rosie Mott or myself, Jean Escott:  01360 620970:  office@tpc.org.uk

Juke Box Days!

July 6, 2021

Alzheimer Scotland presents Juke Box Days, a reminiscence initiative hosted by Michael White of Screen Memories Scotland, that focuses on the Golden Age of Rock and Roll, basically from 1956 to 1976. A specific year is chosen, and group members can select their own choices of music. As well as the songs themselves, there are memory triggers for social and cultural aspects such as fashion, hairstyles, news events, famous people and food and drink. This sets the context for the songs and the music of the period.
The Transatlantic Jukebox Session this week is on Thursday 8th July 2021 at 4pm with North Carolina.

Beastie Bothy Part 2

July 6, 2021

The eco committee is still trying to push on with the steps towards a silver eco congregation award, a bit more challenging when our use of buildings and opportunities to get together is limited!

One of our targets was to extend our work in the village and most recently this has involved working with the committee for Woodmill Park to build a Beastie Bothy in the Fairy Trail .

We think it looks very grand and hopefully most attractive to lots of God’s smaller creatures!

If you have any other ideas about how we can continue our community work or if you would like to get involved with the group – it might mean getting your hands dirty – please contact Alison Crawford at: office@tpc.org.uk

Nigel’s Retirement – Final Details

June 25, 2021

Here are the final details for the special events marking Nigel’s retirement over the next few days:

Friday 25 June – Celebration Event on Zoom, 7.30pm
This will be live on Zoom from 7.25pm.

Here is the link:   https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89774517743  Meeting ID: 897 7451 7743

Brian Mackenzie will be compering, joining Nigel and Jen and other special guests live from the church with some other contributions by video and presentation of commemorative gifts.

We want everyone to feel a part of this special event so do please turn your video on in Zoom if you are happy to do that so Nigel and Jen can see you – but keep your mic muted!

We will also use the chat function to share comments and memories as the event takes place, so come prepared to drop something in if you wish.

Dress code is as you wish but feel free to dress up for this occasion – loud ties was one suggestion to take or leave!

Please join promptly at 7.25pm in time for the programme starting at 7.30pm sharp. The programme will finish around 9pm.

Saturday 26 June  Sadly ongoing covid restrictions have put paid to plans for a social gathering in person so this will not be going ahead.

Sunday 27 June – Service at 1030am At the time of sending this email, there are still a few seats available to book in the Church Hall overflow – click here to view the booking page.

The service will obviously be available to view online in the usual way.   Afterwards, there will be the chance to line West Balgrochan Road (up the side of the park) to wave Nigel and Jen home a short time after the service concludes (taking care to observe current distancing requirements!).

It will be great to give glory to God and honour Nigel and Jen for their extraordinary contribution to the life of the church and wider community over the past thirty years together.
