Girls’ Brigade Refuweegee Appeal – Thank you!

October 6, 2021

The girls had a great time on Wednesday filling welcome bags for Refuweegee to distribute to newly arrived refugees. In the end there were 52 filled bags which was far more than we expected to fill! This is testament to the generosity of all who donated so many items for the bags and the GB leaders would like to thank you all very much for your support with this project.

Girls’ Brigade Get Moving – 14 Day Challenge

February 7, 2021

As the Emma Cameron Foundation is a special charity to Torrance Girls’ Brigade, we do like to raise funds for the ECF each year and give the display collection.

Recognising the benefits of exercise especially in lockdown, we have set the girls and leaders a challenge to be active for 14 days and their parents are welcome to donate to the ECF in recognition of this via the JustGiving page below.

Being active can be anything which gets us moving like a cycle, walk or indoor exercise class.

Anyone is very welcome to join us in this challenge, either with the 14 day activity or you could give to the ECF in recognition of the girls efforts! Many thanks, the GB leaders.

Crisp Packet Project

January 15, 2021

Thank you to everyone who took the time to send empty crisp packets to the Girls’ Brigade when they were collecting on behalf of a project worker who was making blankets for the homeless. They have been inundated and the crisp packets have now been delivered to the project worker.

Please Note: This project has been completed and we are no longer collecting crisp packets.

If you would like to know how to make the blankets visit –

Girls’ Brigade

December 1, 2020

The Girls Brigade would like to thank everyone who collected crisp packets for them over the past few weeks. These packets have been turned into 30 blankets. Due to such an amazing initial response and further COVID restrictions we will not be collecting any more crisp bags. Many thanks, GB.

New Banner for 150th Anniversary

February 25, 2020

The GB will be working with the banner group ladies to make a new banner to mark the 150th anniversary. It is to be a large cross made up of about 70 small crosses. If you have a piece of material (preferably cotton and at least an A5 size and up to an A4size) then please leave it in the box in the foyer. It would be good for all the congregation to play a part in the new banner.

Girls’ Brigade Annual Clothes Sale Friday 13th March 7.30pm

February 25, 2020

Tickets are now available for the GB annual clothes sale run by Brian Taylor Fashions. Cost is £5 and the proceeds will be donated to the Empower project. This is a local project run by Unity Enterprises which supports adults with learning disabilities to become more independent. This was a project close to Lyn Walker’s heart and we would like to remember Lyn by giving the proceeds to Empower. Please see Sheila Traynor for tickets.
