Prayer Ministry Team

December 28, 2021

The team continues to pray on a Thursday morning during the week. If the weather is fine, two members of the team can be seen walking around the Parish praying. They can be identified by their prayer ministry badges. We would also continue to encourage you to get in touch with any of the team with any prayer requests.

We are very aware of the many different challenges and struggles folk are experiencing at present and the difficulties that continue. No matter what we face let us share one another’s burdens together in the love and strength of Jesus.

Rapunzel Christmas Panto Postponed!

December 17, 2021

To everyone who have bought tickets to attend our first show of Rapunzel this evening at Torrance Parish Church,

We are so sad to have to tell you that the difficult decision has been made to cancel the show as planned. We had been working so hard on this and were very excited to share it with you. This is not a message we wanted to have to share. This decision was made very last minute to keep the community of Torrance safe and we appreciate your understanding through these difficult times.

As you know, this event was to raise funds for the East Dunbartonshire Food Bank and so we really appreciate your support and hope you will be happy to keep your tickets while we make plans to perform for you all at a future date to be confirmed as soon as it is safe to do so.

We’re so sorry for any inconvenience caused and thank you all again for your support.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and we can’t wait to perform for you all soon.

We are meeting with the cast and crew tonight and hope to create something to share with you all as soon as possible to hopefully make you smile and keep you going until we can share our version of Rapunzel with you.

Thank you, Sean Reilly, on behalf of us all at the TPC Panto

Girls’ Brigade Refuweegee Appeal – Thank you!

October 6, 2021

The girls had a great time on Wednesday filling welcome bags for Refuweegee to distribute to newly arrived refugees. In the end there were 52 filled bags which was far more than we expected to fill! This is testament to the generosity of all who donated so many items for the bags and the GB leaders would like to thank you all very much for your support with this project.

Proposed Twinning with St Phillip’s in Hyderabad Pakistan

October 6, 2021

This congregation offered to twin with St Phillip’s pre-Covid.  The offer of twinning has not progressed due to circumstances including the illness of the senior Pastor Rev Dr Daniel Fiaz leaving his junior, Rev Asghar Malik to support the congregation.  Daniel has recently returned to work full-time.  The congregation is active on Facebook and as a way of building links with them and supporting them, TPC Wider Church Group have suggested that our members follow “ St Phillip’s Church Hyderabad and Rev Dr Daniel Fiaz“  and make comment or like their posts where appropriate.  Bill Gray

September 10, 2021

TPC are in the process of setting up a drop-in youth café to give the young people of the village somewhere safe, warm, and fun to come along to.  It is due to launch on Saturday 18th September and is aimed at those in P7 to S3/4.

We are looking for some supplies and wondered if anyone in the congregation would be able to assist with any of these that you’re not using and haven’t got around to throwing out yet:

Old video game consoles, games, and peripheries

A smoothie maker / blender

Arts and crafts materials or supplies

Wooden tabletop games (e.g., Jenga, chess, draughts, go etc)

Message Iain Nisbet at if you’ve got anything you think might fit the bill.  Thanks!

Springburn Foodbank Collection

August 3, 2021

Thank you to everyone in the church who has contributed to the emergency foodbank collection since last March. Helen and her team are extremely thankful. We will no longer collect for Springburn as Helen and her team are now looking at longer term solutions to support people in the local Community.

They will continue to meet the needs of emergency cases. We could pray for God’s provision and a clear vision of how they might move forward. Something similar to a community pantry is one idea but they are looking at premises and a model that will fit well with specific local needs. Our support has helped during a time when they were continually overwhelmed with requests for assistance. They did an amazing job and literally helped thousands. Chrissy Muir
