Stamp Appeal

May 17, 2022

In Lebanon, in response to the financial collapse in the country, pastors in Syria and Lebanon initiated, in 2021, a scheme where they gave half of their salary to establish a relief programme to support the neediest families around their congregations.

Church of Scotland partners, The National Evangelical Synod of Syria and Lebanon (NESSL) is struggling to pay salaries for pastors which range between £100 to £150 per month. Some pastors have left their vocation to take other jobs. Salaries have been supported by fee paying schools, but many families are now finding it hard to pay school fees. Despite the hardships experienced, pastors are reaching out to the needy in their congregations in a sacrificial way. This year the Stamp Project proceeds aim to raise enough funds to support a pastor for a full year’s salary.

Please keep your stamps and place them in the box in the Church foyer.

Thank you for the Kiltwalk Donations!

May 3, 2022

Thank you to everyone who sponsored me and two colleagues to walk the Kiltwalk last Sunday for CrossReach. We raised the amazing sum of £1298 and this is added to by a 50% top up from the Tom Hunter Foundation.

It was a well organised event and the weather was perfect, and I am pleased to say that we completed the 23 miles. Thank you again for your generosity.

March 15, 2022

The Lodging House Mission is inviting churches and individuals to donate Easter Eggs which will then be gifted to those in need. Eggs can be donated conveniently on Sundays at the church until the end of March or alternatively at the East Campbell Street Day Centre between 2-4pm weekdays until Easter.

** There is also a new chaplaincy initiative being launched. LHM are looking for volunteers to form a prayer support team. In addition, there is a need for front of house volunteers as people retire from volunteering leaving a gap on Thursdays in particular. There are more details relating to all of these things on the Presbytery website. Bill Gray
