East Dunbartonshire Women’s Aid – Food Bank

September 10, 2021

We have another worthy cause and would appreciate your help in providing food for people who are in need.

East Dunbartonshire Women’s Aid provides refuge, information and support services for women, children and young people in the East Dunbartonshire area who have experienced, or who are currently experiencing, domestic abuse. Torrance Church would like to offer support by way of providing food and toiletries e.g., deodorants  and toothpaste to make life just that little bit easier for those who are struggling. If you would like to continue to donate to the Food Bank it would be appreciated if you can place your donation in the box in the church car park (at the cycle rack.) Thank you.

Tearfund Scotland – Could you feed a family from your fridge?

May 14, 2021

More than 40 million people are now facing a hunger crisis in countries like South Sudan, Yemen, Afghanistan and the Democratic Republic of Congo. There are no food banks or furlough schemes in the vulnerable communities where we and our partner organisations are working. Many families can only afford one meal a day, if that….. but here’s an opportunity to help: Fridge Twinning. Our friends at Toilet Twinning have just launched a new campaign to provide emergency food and cash vouchers. They are also providing training and support for small businesses – helping people find new ways to earn a living so they’re more resilient to future shocks. For more information, and to twin your fridge, please visit the Fridge Twinning website today

JTS Fair and Fine Food – A bag of rice can change a life

May 7, 2021

Donate Rice to our foodbank campaign and help to fight food poverty both locally and globally. As little as £3.20 can make a difference – JTS will give 6 bags for every 90 bags donated.

In the UK, more than 14 million people are living in poverty – including 4.5 million children. In order to do our bit in addressing this issue, JTS are launching our biggest ever rice donation campaign with the aim of helping those in desperate need, both in our communities here and also in the farming communities in Malawi who have also been adversely affected by the pandemic.

It is really simple for you and your friends, church, community groups etc to get involved in this campaign and to help make a difference both globally and locally.  Please click here for further information.
