Healing for the Heart

August 22, 2023

A group of open water swimmers from the village, Chrissy and Kirsty Muir, Shelagh Watson and Alison Crawford have been open water swimming in all weather, all year round, to get ready for the Loch Lomond Open Water One Mile Race!

Our challenge will take place on Saturday 2nd September and we have decided to swim on behalf of Healing for the Heart. This is an incredible charity providing essential mental health counselling support for people in Glasgow. Our swim will help towards sustaining the high level of compassion and care delivered to those in need regardless of their financial circumstances. Healing for the Heart is truly a place of hope and restoration and has never been more needed. Any contribution received would be hugely appreciated.

Changing Lives Malawi

July 18, 2023

School Uniform Appeal

You may remember, Changing Lives Malawi made an appeal to the community last year for pre-loved school uniforms and children’s books and they had an amazing response to their appeal and are grateful for the donations already received for the orphans and vulnerable children and young people the charity supports.  Two new classes are being built at the new school, to be ready for this September, and they ask if you have any items of school uniform that you could donate for the older girls and boys at the Secondary school (trousers, skirts, shirts, polo shirts, black or blue sweaters, shoes) in good condition, which are no longer needed, they would be delighted to take them. Also, If anyone is able and willing to make a small contribution towards shipping, this would be much appreciated.  Donations can be made to Changing Lives Malawi account: s/c 80-22-60  a/c 21081462 – or cash donations can be made via Traci Leven in church.

There is a box in the foyer for donations or you can drop them off at Traci’s home, Glenorchy, West Balgrochan Road, Torrance. Thank you, Traci.
