Holiday Time? Caring for God’s amazing earth?

May 7, 2019

Are you travelling to far flung places for your holiday? Whether travelling by car, boat or aeroplane our journeys will have an environmental impact. Planting just 4 trees offsets one tonne of CO2 so if you would like to find out more about how to offset the carbon usage of your travels you could take a look at these websites: clevel.co.uk lets you calculate your carbon usage and buy trees to be planted in different areas of the world; treesforlife.org.uk is supported by Eco-Congregation Scotland and you can buy trees to help the restoration of our wild forests in the Highlands – Happy holidays!

Earth Hour 2019

March 24, 2019

Earth Hour is the world’s biggest switch off event and each year, millions of people take part. Around the world, people switch off their lights and organise events to show they care about the future of our planet.
This Earth Hour, you can pledge to change one thing in your everyday life that will help protect our planet. Will you choose to reduce the amount of single-use plastic you use? Or maybe wash your clothes at 30°C to save energy? For every pledge made, Ariel will give £1 to protect our planet. Visit World Wildlife Fund for more information.
Save the date! Add Earth Hour to your calendar and join folk across the world as they switch off their lights at 8.30pm – Saturday 30 March 2019.
We are delighted to let you know that we have achieved our first Eco-Congregation award. Last weekend we heard that we have been awarded our Bronze award and are well on our way to a Silver. Thanks for your support and for the changes we have all made to take better care of God’s wonderful creation. Alison, Dorothy, Kirsty and Joyce

Eco Congregation – Beastie Bothy

January 19, 2019

As part of our Eco Congregation initiative, the children are going to help build a “bug hotel” in the area behind the Church. We will need some building materials so if you have any bricks (the kind with holes in the middle), hollow canes, terracotta flowerpots (chipped or cracked is fine) straw or some logs we would love to have them. Any materials can be left at the back of the Church. Thank you. Dorothy McCarthy.

Carbon Footprint

September 11, 2018

During September churches around the world will be taking a focus on ‘Creation Time’. Many will be praying and reading the Bible to help us think about our responsibilities towards the wonderful world that God has created, thanking Him for His provision for us and prompting us to take action.
The TPC eco group has prepared some materials to help you think about what those actions might be. Last week we promoted a conference that will highlight how we can think more sustainably about how we use our money, this week you have information about calculating your carbon footprint.
Look out for more information about green energy and how we can reduce our use of plastic, coming your way soon – Dorothy, Kirsty, Niall and Alison.
