Tearfund – Climate Change Appeal

November 29, 2016

We campaign on climate change because Tearfund partners have told us again and again that this is their priority, even if that isn’t the label they give it. Rains don’t come when people expect them, meaning that the harvest will be late if it comes at all, making it a struggle to feed themselves and their children. Changing rain patterns means people are increasingly at risk of losing their crops, livelihoods and homes from drought and flooding.

As Christians who care for our neighbours and as stewards of God’s creation there is much we can do in terms of changing our lifestyle but we can also join together to get the Scottish Government to take action on climate change. The Scottish budget will be published next month as well as the Scottish Government’s action plan on climate change and we have the opportunity to feed into these.

If you and anyone else you know would be willing to send postcards to your MSPs to call on them to take action on transport and on the energy efficiency of homes and buildings I would be delighted to send out as many cards as you would be willing to buy stamps for. We each have 8 MSPs – one constituency and seven regional – I can look up who your MSPs are and give you their names if that would help. The cards are pre-printed and all you have to do is write in the name of the MSP and your details so they know they are hearing from a constituent.
If you would like to send some postcards just email me with your address and I can send you as little or as many postcards as you want.

Holidays with a difference

November 29, 2016

In 2017, Superb Choice Club offers seven holidays in the UK, from Strathpeffer to East Anglia and N Ireland, and nine further afield, mostly in Europe – Majorca, Malta, the Black Forest, Geneva, Helsinki with St Petersburg, Tuscany, Prague and the Canaries. Some are for five or six days, most are for a week, and there’s a longer one to Iceland and Nova Scotia.
Pleasant hotels with en suite facilities, good food and daily programmes for outings and activities happen with other holidays, so what makes these ones different? They have a spiritual side as well: two club members organise the daily gatherings to worship God around his Word. Many single folk appreciate the company and the safe environment of these friendly holidays.
Brochures are available in the foyer, or find out more online: Book soon; the holidays are very popular – and there’s a discount till the end of December 2016! Phil and June Malloch

We require to increase our stocks of the following non-perishable goods:- Cereals, UHT or dried milk, tinned vegetables and fruit, rice pudding, tinned fish and meat, tea, coffee, pasta sauce, pasta, rice and toiletries. If you are able to assist at this time we have volunteers in East Dunbartonshire who would be able to collect any donations you receive. For further information please contact Christine Murray, Project Murray on 0141 558 1809 or email CHRIS MURRAY ST ROLLOX “We ask for your prayers for those whom you help”.

Christmas Card

November 29, 2016

The Young Folk are busy creating the Christmas card which should be in the foyer by 4th December. As we are endeavouring to be an ECO friendly church, this is one way to cut down on paper and donate to a good cause at the same time. So, instead of handing out cards, please put a message on the card and donate what you would have spent on cards in the box provided. All donations will be given to Anne Davidson to help with the work of Mercy House.
